How long does it take to complete the Graduate Certificate Programs?
A graduate certificate will be issued after successful completion of 12 credit hours and is usually obtained after 2 semesters.
When are the deadlines for applying to the program?
Graduate Certificate applications will be reviewed year-round and admission offered for the spring or fall semester.
If I don’t have a science-based undergraduate degree, am I still eligible to apply to the certificate program?
Admission requirements include a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and at least one semester of Organic Chemistry and Calculus.
Can I start taking classes prior to matriculation into the certificate program?
Students may take courses without formal acceptance into the Graduate Certificate. However, a maximum of 9 (six) credit hours taken prior to matriculation can be transferred for a Graduate Certificate after formal matriculation.
What are the minimum GPA requirements for admission?
The minimum GPA requirement for admission is 2.5 grade point average. However once accepted, you must maintain a 3.0 GPA to remain in the program.
Is the GRE required for admission?
No. The GRE is not required for our certificate programs.
Are letters of recommendation required to come from former teachers/professors?
No, the letters can also include employers. We require at least 1 letter of recommendation to come from teachers, professors, and current and former employers, at least 1 may be submitted from others within the professional community.
Can International students apply?
Yes! The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of all applicants whose native language is other than English. If you have earned an undergraduate or graduate degree from a U.S. university, this requirement will be waived. The minimum score for admission is 90 on the internet-based test (IBT).
The IELTS can be taken in place of TOEFL. The minimum required IELTS score is 7.0.
