Greetings alumni and friends of the Winkle College of Pharmacy,
Welcome to the latest issue of Cincinnati Pharmacy, the electronic newsletter of the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy.
As we close yet another year, it is a time to reflect on 2017 and to spend time with our friends and family as we celebrate the holiday season.
For the Winkle College of Pharmacy, there is certainly a lot to reflect upon.
2017 was a year of growth with our largest enrollment yet at UC and at the college, as well as the launch of two new joint master’s degree programs with our partners in China. We also launched a new dual degree co-op program in cosmetic science that will be accepting its first students to begin next summer. It was the first full year of our new online graduate certificate and master’s degree in pharmacy leadership.
2017 was a year of faculty and student awards and successes. Our NAPLEX pass rates exceeded both the state and national averages yet again and all of our P4 students who participated in the ASHP residency match were matched with a residency. Our faculty brought in $9.3 million in research grants, up from $4.2 million in 2013 and the third consecutive year of an increase.
2017 was a year for facilities. On September 14th, we celebrated the official opening of Kowalewski Hall and the completion of a $34 million building renovation. It was wonderful seeing so many alumni return for that very special day. If you have not been back to see the facilities, feel free to contact me via the email below and I would love to give you a personal tour of our new spaces.
Most importantly, 2017 was a year of relationships. As dean of the college, I value your commitment to the college and to our students. I’m grateful for a large and engaged network of alumni who continue to care about the success of the college.
So, from our family to yours, Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
