The University of Cincinnati James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy offers two innovative online programs for pharmacists ready to advance their careers.
These programs combine leadership and professional development content in a series of health care business and management courses, resulting in a customized learning and growth experience to prepare the pharmacist professional for career advancement in numerous healthcare roles.
Both programs have a uniquely combined curriculum with courses provided by:
- James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy
- Lindner College of Business - Master's in Business Administration
- College of Allied Health Sciences - Master's in Health Administration
Successful completion of either program prepares graduates for leadership positions in numerous health care settings, including independent and chain community pharmacies, health-system inpatient, outpatient and clinical pharmacies, clinical coordinator roles, managed care, industry, long-term care and more!
Choose from a 1-year Graduate Certificate program or 2-year Master's program in Pharmacy Leadership:
The Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Leadership
The certificate program consists of 5 courses covering 15 semester hours, which can be completed in 2 ½ semesters.
Mid-Career Pharmacists: The one-year certificate program provides an entry point for those individuals who have not recently been enrolled in an academic setting or who wish to advance their professional leadership developing without the commitment to a full Master’s degree program.
Pharmacy Residency Programs: The one-year certificate program can be combined with a one-year pharmacy residency program to provide additional professional leadership development.
Students who complete the Graduate Certificate are eligible to transfer all credits toward the Master’s Degree, if desired.

The Master of Science in Pharmacy Leadership
The Master’s Degree consists of 10 courses covering 30 semester hours, which can be completed in 5 semesters (less than 2 years) if a student averages two (2) classes per semester.
Mid-Career Pharmacists: The Master’s program prepares mid-career pharmacists for advanced leadership roles – including management, administration and coordinator roles as supervisor, manager and director of pharmacy positions in all practice settings.
Pharmacy Residency Programs: The two-year Master’s program can be combined with a two-year pharmacy residency program to provide additional preparation for leadership roles. including management, administration and coordinator roles as supervisor, manager and director of pharmacy positions in all practice settings.
